October 12, 2026 — Four days following the sudden transfer—without prior notice to the family and attorney—of Parham Parvari, a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to 15 years in prison, to Zahedan Prison, no news regarding his fate and condition is available, and he has had no contact with his relatives during this period. Parham Parvari has been detained for 4 years and 11 days without benefiting from even a single day of furlough, having spent 3 years and nearly 4 months of this period in internal exile in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. He is a swimming instructor and medalist, as well as a graduate in mechanical engineering.

An informed source confirmed the report to Kurdpa, stating: "On Friday, October 9, 2026, 29-year-old Kurdish youth Parham Parvari was transferred from Iranshahr Prison to Zahedan Prison alongside several other inmates, without prior notice to his family and relatives. Four days following this transfer, no information regarding his fate and status is available, and he has had no contact with his family."

Parham Parvari was arrested in Tehran on October 2, 2022, concurrently with the "Woman, Life, Freedom" protests. Following interrogation and judicial proceedings, he was sentenced to 15 years in imprisonment on charges of "Moharebeh" (enmity against God) and "acting against national security," comprising 10 years of imprisonment in exile and five years of discretionary imprisonment. His sentence was upheld identically on December 19, 2023, by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court. His third retrial petition was accepted on March 4, 2025, and the issued sentence was overturned; nonetheless, according to an announcement by his mother on May 13, 2025, the charge of "Moharebeh" remained in effect, and the case was referred to Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court. Throughout his imprisonment, he has been held in various prisons and exiled to Iranshahr and Zahedan prisons without even a single day of furlough.

  • October 10, 2024: Kurdpa reported that, contrary to the principle of the separation of crimes, Parham Parvari was being held in the ward designated for prisoners accused of drug-related offenses and murder. Sorve Souzani, the political prisoner's mother, stated that her son was enduring extremely deplorable conditions in Iranshahr Prison. She noted that this facility primarily functions as a rehabilitation and vocational center for drug offenders and violent criminals and is entirely unsuited for housing political prisoners. She also expressed grave concern for her son's safety, reporting that during a physical altercation, several inmates had beaten Parham, resulting in a fractured eye socket that required six stitches. Additionally, a hot water flask was hurled at him, causing severe burns across his body. The political prisoner's mother emphasized that her son is an engineer and swimming champion and must be held in the political prisoners' ward rather than among inmates charged with drug offenses and murder.
  • November 1, 2024: Parham Parvari was transferred from Iranshahr Prison to the political prisoners' ward in Zahedan Prison.
  • March 4, 2025: Maziyar Tataee, the attorney representing Mr. Parvari, wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account that the third retrial petition filed for his client had been accepted by the reviewing branch of the Supreme Court. With the overturning of the issued verdict, he expressed hope that the parallel branch would issue an acquittal due to the absence of the legal elements constituting the crime of "Moharebeh."
  • May 13, 2025: Sorve Souzani, Parham Parvari's mother, wrote on her Instagram page that her son's retrial petition was accepted solely concerning a minor charge, while the charge of "Moharebeh" remained intact, and the case was referred to a parallel branch, Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court.

Statement by Kurdpa

Condemning this unjust sentence, Kurdpa Human Rights Organization emphasizes that despite the Supreme Court overturning the issued verdict in the latest stage of legal proceedings, Parham Parvari continues to face prolonged legal limbo and uncertainty, remaining without a retrial or judicial determination for over a year and seven months. Furthermore, imprisonment in exile imposes compounded suffering on this political prisoner and his family, as geographical distance and heavy travel expenses restrict family visits and make access to furlough and communication rights in an unfamiliar environment exceedingly difficult. Kurdpa calls for a fair retrial of Parham Parvari's case, an end to his judicial limbo, and the absolute respect for his fundamental rights as a prisoner.
