October 1, 2026 — Yesterday, a Kurdish tradesman from Mirabad County in West Azerbaijan Province, identified as Khaled Shir, who engaged in local trade through livestock farming, was shot by Islamic Republic of Iran military forces near the border heights of "Gwezeh" (Gweze). After being transferred to a hospital in Urmia, he succumbed to his severe injuries.
An informed source told Kurdpa: "On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Khaled Shir (known as Khaled Abdullah Haji), a resident of Alvatan/Alutan village in Mirabad County, West Azerbaijan Province, who worked as a tradesman through livestock farming, was targeted by direct, unannounced gunfire from Iranian military forces near the border mountains of Gwezeh (Gweze). He was transferred to a hospital in Urmia, where he passed away from his injuries today, Thursday, October 1, 2026."
Khaled Shir was married and had children.
At the time of this report, his body has been handed over to his family and is being transported to his birthplace.
The Gwezeh (Gweze) mountains are located in the heights of Sardasht County in West Azerbaijan Province. Mirabad, formerly known as Vazineh, was separated from Sardasht County in 2022 to become an independent county. Vazineh is locally known among the Kurdish population as the "Wazne" plain.
